Jill was born and raised in Northern California. She began riding at the age of eight and won every major West Coast title for pony riders. She moved off her ponies and began to concentrate on her love for equitation and jumpers under the tutelage of Karen Healey. She rode internationally as a junior. She was the USEF National Junior Equestrian of the Year in 1998. In the jumper ring she was the 1998 USEF National Jumper Rider of the Year and her horse Freestylin was the USEF Junior Jumper horse of the year. She also won the Cosequin National Junior Amateur Jumper of the Year for 1998. In both 1994 and 1997 she was the AGPL Horse/Rider of the Year. Jill won both individual and team medals as a member of the Harrisburg Prix de States Team in 1997 and 1998. She was also a member of the 1998 Young Rider Team sent to Monterrey, Mexico. While competing in Canada Jill was presented with the President’s Imperial Oil Cup Award for the Leading Jr. Rider at Spruce Meadows. While riding equitation she won the PHA Finals, Maclay Regional Finals, and the Del Mar Professional v Junior Eq.Challenge. In 1998 she was Reserve Champion in the USEF National Hunt Seat Medal Finals, WCE Horsemanship finals and the USET Talent Search Finals. She also made top ten finishes in the National Maclay and WIHS Finals. After her junior career she rode for Olympian and World Cup rider Jan Tops in the Netherlands and returned to the states to work and ride for Paul Valliere in Florida. Jill’s talent on the back of a horse and her love for teaching make her a welcome addition to the SVS team. She hopes her experience internationally will help further the goals and aspirations of many of the young riders at the barn.
